This paper analyzed the “A New Era of Discovery: The 2023 Long Range Plan for Nuclear Science”
in the United States, aiming to provide references for the development of nuclear science in China. The paper
interprets the priority research directions of American nuclear science, including quarks and gluons, nuclear
structure and nuclear reactions, nuclear astrophysics, basic symmetries, neutrons and neutrinos, theoretical nuclear
physics, and other fields. The paper examines the strategies of the United States in the construction of large
scientific facilities, talent cultivation, financial support, and international cooperation. The paper points out that
the United States maintains its leading position in the field of nuclear science through continuous investment and
strategic planning. At the same time, suggestions are made for China in the field of nuclear science, including
strengthening planning guidance, accelerating the construction of large scientific facilities, providing operational
funding support, enhancing international cooperation, and establishing a multi-level education system to promote
the development of China’s nuclear science |
